The portuguese fighter won via KO with a thunderous knee to the head on the third and final round, against the chinese Zheng Jungfeng, in his pro debut. The triumph comes just two months after he won the silver medal in the IMMAF European Open in Sofia, Bulgaria.
It's been a dream year for Mario Moreno, the portuguese MMA fighter also known as Moreno Hortinha. After reaching an historic result for Portugal in the IMMAF European Open, with three wins in three days, Moreno now achieves his first pro win in his debut. His fight opened the Strikers League event in Carcavelos, in a awesome event with a large audience. Zheng Jungfeng was the opponent, a chinese fighter that already had 5 professional MMA fights. Zheng relied on his wrestling and ground to pound to counter Moreno's Muay Thai, and scored some good takedowns in both first and second rounds. One of them hurt Moreno's shoulder, but he managed to go throught the pain and in the beggining of the third and final round, scored a beautiful knee to the head of the chinese. Moreno was being pressured to the ropes by Zheng, but found the space to place the knee right to the jaw. Zheng went inscouncious and Moreno elevated all the crowd with his traditional celebration, running all across the ring almost in tears. Moreno continues his amazing rise in the MMA world with another gigantic step in his career.
